2017 Cycle Zydeco

Official Ride Information And Morel listings:

The 2018 CYCLE ZYDECO web site with official information is here. Don't trust this site (my site) for specifics about the ride schedule.

April 3rd: Leave KC @ 7:00 AM sharp for Shreveport (550 miles)– This is a suggested start time. We have communicated by text along the way and attempted to meet along the way BUT the point is to get to Shreveport before 6PM. En route there is a stop at Macadoodles liquor store in Pineville, MO (a stone’s throw from the Arkansas line). Then on to the Wingate with a Mexican restaurant (Nicky’s) across the parking lot. This stop is a tradition with us. We party there and finish back at the motel.

April 4th: Travel to Lafayette (230 miles)- We have stopped at Natchitoches (at Lasyone’s for meat pies) and in Opelousas at Billy and Ray’s for Boudin along the way. There is a kick-off party that evening. The CZ web site itinerary for Wednesday is here.

Note – Booking hotels EXCEPT FOR the Wingate in Shreveport or the Discovery Inn in Lafayette should be done via Cycle Zydeco’s site.

If you are traveling through Shreveport you will need to book a room:

Tuesday, April 3rd - Wingate by Wyndham Shreveport Airport

6245 Westport Avenue

Shreveport, Louisiana 71129

You will need a room in Lafayette Wednesday (unless you plan to camp – I’m not exactly how that would work – refer to Cycle Zydeco instructions).

Wednesday, April 4th – I see 2 options in Lafayette.

a) In past years the core of our group has stayed at the Discovery Inn.

i) PLUS: Inexpensive (~$60) and they have been accommodating to our needs.

ii) MINUS: Rooms are modest and transportation to and from activities on Wednesday may not be as convenient.

b) The Host Hotel - Ramada Lafayette Conference Center aka Garden Plaza

i) PLUS: Nicer rooms and trolleys to transport to and from Kick-off party.

ii) MINUS: More expensive ($92 per room)

Host hotels in Lafayette can and should be made through the Cycle Zydeco web site. As an option - some of the KC group will stay at the Discovery Inn. Though this is not on CZ’s list, is not as convienient and is not a luxurious establishment but it is inexpensive and management has been especially accommodating to our needs.

Ramada Lafayette Conference Center aka Garden Plaza

Or – Less expensive but less convenient
