2024 ROUGH OUTLINE

With the KC weather taking a turn toward absolute 0°K (not too close yet) it may be time to turn your attention to springtime rides.  May I suggest Cyle Zydeco scheduled for April 3-7, 2024.  The way we have done this is:

Tuesday (April 2) – Drive KC to Shreveport, LA.

Wednesday – Drive on to Lafayette – Stops in Natchitoches and Opelouses on the way.

Wednesday Night – CZ Sponsored Kick off party and post activities on our own (Blue Moon probably)

Thursday thru Sunday – the ride – see the Cycle Zydeco site for details

Sunday Night – We have seen a show at the  Feed and Seed .  I’m not sure the calendar works this year.

Monday (April 8) – Travel back to KC.  The solar eclipse is on April 8^th and has good viewing in Arkansas.  We would be right there.

The KC Crazies (we dubbed ourselves that a few years ago) leave as a loosely gathered group on Tuesday for Shreveport, LA (approx 550 miles) and overnight there.  Wednesday we travel on to Lafayette (another 200+ miles) with a couple stops on the way – see below.

 

1^st LEG : April 2 Grandview to Shreveport: 539 miles (I’m using Grandview as an arbitrary starting point)

                Off route a little and just north of the Arkansas line is Macadoodles, a liquor store that has been a traditional stop.  They have an extensive selection of beers, liquor and wines as well as a gas station.

It looks like our traditional lunch stop in Ft. Smith no longer exists.  We will see what we can find or feel free to research on your own. 

 

IN SHREVEPORT:

The plus here is that just across the parking lot from our hotel is Nicky’s where traditional group dinner happens.  Tuesdays there are Margarita specials and BOGO enchilada specials.  It’s nice to be able to walk (or be carted) back to the hotel after a few (perhaps too many) margaritas.

 You need to plan your drive so as to arrive, check in and get to Nicky’s by 6:00 +/

2^nd LEG: Shreveport to Lafayette: 214 miles +/-

                First Stop – Natchitoches (“Steel Magnolias” filmed there) : 77 miles

AFTER THE TOUR SUNDAY EVENING

If this band is in town I plan to be there.  Their usual schedule is to play on the second Sunday of the month at the Feed and Seed in Lafayette.  That would be April 14th, not the 7th..  I'm checking to see if there is another option.

I love this kind of mucic and they are great.
